What is Myofascial Release

Myo- Muscle

Fascia- Connective tissue that connects the muscle fibers, bundles and surrounds tendons and ligaments.  Fascia is continuous throughout the body.

Muscles and fascia get very tight and scar when an injury occurs and can become very painful if they are not stretched back to their original length.  It is imperative to release the muscle and fascia to attain normal symmetry in order for that muscle to function properly.

Myofascial Release is a treatment technique used to release tight or restricted fascia that connects muscles, tendons and ligaments.  These techniques are used by professionals specially trained in myofascial release.

How is traditional Myofascial Release done?

Typically, the practitioner will push on the client's muscle(s) until they stretch out or release.  The practitioner does not slide their hands or the muscle like a typical massage but pushes or pulls on the actual muscle until the muscle itself lengthens.  This requires patience and intuition of the practitioner.

The BackStrap Exercises use Myofascial Release Techniques to stretch your muscles.  You will be taught exactly what to do for the pains to have.
